A Status Yellow rain warning is in effect for six counties along the west coast.
Met Éireann said that significant accumulations from heavy showers and longer spells of rain can be expected in Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible.
The forecaster said the potential impacts are localised flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.
The warning came into force at 6pm yesterday and will continue until 6pm this evening.
