Uisce Éireann has commenced a major infrastructure project to upgrade the wastewater network in parts of Drogheda, Co Louth.
The utility has said the project will see a €22 million investment in the wastewater capacity in the north of the town to support the development of over 5,000 new homes.
The works will include the construction of a new wastewater pumping station off Twenties Lane and the installation of over two kilometres of new sewer pipeline.

The project is being delivered as part of Uisce Éireann's National Growth and Development Programme.
It will be carried out on behalf of the utility by GMC Utilities Group, with completion expected in 2027.
Uisce Éireann’s Padraic Fitzgerald has said the project will provide more reliable services for current and future homes and businesses.
He said: "The north Drogheda wastewater network upgrade project will not only address current capacity constraints but will also facilitate planned residential development, helping to unlock housing and economic potential in the area.

"We are working closely with developers to ensure the infrastructure is in place to support the delivery of much needed new homes for the community."
Localised traffic management measures will be required when the works are being carried out, while more information about the project is available on Uisce Éireann’s website.
