The Dublin Horse Show is under way at the RDS in Ballsbridge, with around 110,000 visitors expected to attend the event over the next five days.
1,600 horses and ponies will compete in over 168 classes for a share of the €1.4 million prize fund, with one of the highlights of the event - the Aga Khan Trophy - taking place on Friday.
The largest individual prize fund of €500,000 is on offer for the Rolex Grand Prix of Ireland event, while 61 international riders are competing across the various events.
2025 is the 150th year of the Dublin Horse Show and the anniversary is being marked by a special exhibition containing historic photos and details from past events, which are on display in the RDS Concert Hall.
Organisers say it costs more than €7 million to stage the event, which is the pinnacle of the Irish horse sport calendar, and that the show contributes around €50 million annually to the economy.
Away from the competition there will be 350 exhibitors, with trade stands playing an important role in the event.
