A man has been taken to hospital following an alleged assault in Tallaght, Co Dublin, yesterday.

Footage circulating on social media shows a man covered in blood with injuries including cuts to his face.

It has been claimed on social media the man was set upon by a group of youths.

In a statement PBP TD Paul Murphy said: "It's horrifying to think gangs of young men armed with knives are roaming our streets attacking innocent people.

"Tallaght will not allow these thugs make our streets unsafe. We are a strong community, we need to stand together against their violence, hate and division."

In a statement, gardai said investigations into the incident are "ongoing".

It said: "Gardaí in Tallaght were alerted to an incident at Parkhill Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24 on the evening of Saturday 19th July, 2025 at approximately 6pm.

"Gardaí attended the scene and a male, aged in his 40s was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with injuries."
