A man, arrested in connection with the discovery of a number of attempted improvised explosive devices, has been released without charge.
A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and gardaí have also said that investigations remains ongoing.
Earlier today, police in Northern Ireland confirmed that they carried out a search in south Armagh in connection with the discovery of a number of attempted improvised explosive devices.
The operation, involving both the PSNI and gardaí, led to the arrest of the man south of the border on Sunday evening.
PSNI officer have confirmed that they recovered and made safe an improvised explosion device and removed a number of items following the search of a house in Keady, Co Armagh yesterday.
The items and the device have been seized and taken away for further forensic examinations.
Officers carried out the search in support of an investigation being led by gardaí in Co Monaghan.
Enquiries are continuing and at this stage, police are investigating a potential link between this search and a security alert, which occurred at the Ballyards Road area of Milford in Armagh last Tuesday.
A number of attempted improvised explosive devices have also been seized south of the border as part of the same operation.
It's understood that two of the devices were found in counties Limerick and Monaghan in recent days.
An "unexplained device" was found at a premises near Foynes in Co Limerick last Friday afternoon.
Gardaí and the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit attended the scene.
There was a similar incident in the Muckno Street area of Castleblayney, Co Monaghan last Tuesday.
The EOD unit also attended this scene and spent almost five hours on site before the device was rendered safe and handed over to An Garda Síochána.
A man, aged in his 40s, was arrested on Sunday evening in connection with the discovery of both devices.
He was detained at a garda station in the north western region under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act before he was released without charge.
The operation that led to the man's arrested involved national garda units as well as local gardaí in Co Monaghan and PSNI officers.
Separately, the services of the EOD unit have been requested in the Church Lane area of Drogheda, Co Louth this evening.
However, this device is understood to be historic in nature.
