Motorcyclist, 40s, dies in Mayo road crash

A motorcyclist in his 40s has died in a road crash in Co Mayo.

The incident occurred on the R331 at Friarsquarter East, Ballinrobe, shortly after 7.40pm yesterday evening.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and no other vehicles were involved.

The man's body was removed to Mayo University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The road was closed for a technical examination, but has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone with camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area between 7.30pm and 8.30pm, to contact Claremorris Garda Station on 094 937 2080, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
