Iarnród Éireann has said major disruption to DART services is continuing into rush hour this evening following a problem with overhead lines earlier this afternoon, which led to sparks and smoke being reported near Blackrock in south Dublin.
Rail services between Dún Laoghaire and Lansdowne Road were suspended until further notice, after a cable was accidentally cut.
Rail staff are still trying to repair the problem which occured as vegetation near the line was being cut back between Booterstown and Blackrock.
Smoke was reported close to Blackrock Garda station at around 2.45 pm this afternoon.
Services are currently in operation between Howth and Malahide, and Dún Laoghaire and Greystones.
Iarnród Éireann has said that they are working on site to rectify the issue.
Dublin Bus is honouring rail tickets for all affected passengers.
Iarnród Éireann said that the 12.55 service from Rosslare to Connolly station terminated at Bray, and that bus transfers are being arranged for the later services from Connolly station.
