A Status Yellow thunderstorm warning issued for 10 counties this evening has expired.

The weather alert was in effect for counties Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Wexford and Wicklow from 5.25pm until 7pm tonight.

Met Éireann said that lightning and hail were also expected.

The warning was also in effect for Kilkenny, Laois, and Tipperary from 4.59pm to 7pm today.

Counties Cavan and Monaghan were under the weather alert from 4.10pm until 6pm.
