An investigation is under way after a building was evacuated and a number of vehicles were damaged in an arson attack at a building in west Dublin overnight.

Gardaí said they attended the scene of a criminal damage by fire incident on Station Road in Hansfield in the early hours of the morning.

Local fire services extinguished the fire, gardaí said, while the scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

There were no injuries in the incident.

Gardaí issued an appeal to anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on (01) 6667000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

Concerns have been raised by residents in the area recently regarding anti-social activity including repeated false fire alarms, theft of bicycles and severe vandalism which included cars being burned out and windows smashed.
