A static safety camera will come into operation on the N80 in Co Carlow later today.
The camera, located near Graiguenaspiddoge, will be operational from 12pm.
Anyone found driving over the speed limit will be issued with a fixed charge notice, which carries three penalty points and includes a €160 fine.
Static safety cameras are already in place on the N17 in Co Mayo, N59 in Co Galway, N13 in Co Donegal, N69 in Co Limerick, R772 in Co Wexford and the N22 in Co Cork.
Five average safety cameras are also in place on the N3 in Co Cavan, N5 in Co Mayo and N2 in Co Meath.
Several road deaths have occurred on the N80 in Carlow in recent years.
Two Indian nationals were killed in a crash in Rathoe in January this year while two men and a woman were killed in a crash on the same stretch of road in February 2024.
