The annual garda memorial day to honour the 90 members of An Garda Síochána killed in the line of duty has been held at Dublin Castle.
Garda Kevin Flatley, who died while of traffic duty last weekend. and who's funeral was held in Balbriggan in Dublin yesterday, was among those remembered at the event this afternoon.
It was attended by Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan and Garda Commissioner Drew Harris.
Mr Harris told the service: "Today we pay tribute to their bravery and courage.
"Their resilience in the face of adversity. Their determination to face down danger to help others.
"Today we think of their sacrifice and their loss is felt as deeply now as the day they were taken from us.
"On this very special day for An Garda Síochana, we recognise the ultimate sacrifice they made for the people of Ireland."
Minister O'Callaghan added: "Today is an opportunity for us to remember and recognise the selflessness and bravery of those who are gone.
"The courageous members of An Garda Síochána who went to work one morning and tragically never came home having been killed in the line of duty."
