The largest drum in Ireland is to be officially unveiled in Co Cavan tomorrow.

An Ruaille Buaille Druma is 13 foot round and can be played by up to 30 people at the same time.

The craftspeople involved in its creation have said the idea behind the drum is one of connection, to bring people together for a unique experience.

The drum was created by Gearoid Teevan of Drummany Spirit Organic Farm in Milltown, Co Cavan alongside master carpenter Micheal O'Rahill and artist and painter Claire Falcone.

An Ruaille Buaille Druma will be officially unveiled at an event on the farm tomorrow afternoon to coincide with the community group’s Féile na Bealtaine festival.

The day will also see the official opening of Bridget’s Cottage, a 300-year-old cottage that has lay derelict for years and has now been re-thatched and returned to its former glory.

The newly renovated St Bridget's Cottage will also be unveiled

Other activities on the day will include sean nós dancing, Irish music, old style craft demonstrations (butter making, bread making etc) and a drumming workshop.
