A man has been charged in connection with possessing an offensive weapon in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, yesterday.
Gardaí have confirmed they responded to a report of an individual in possession of an offensive weapon on Main Street in the town at around 7.30pm yesterday evening.
A man, aged in his 20s, was stopped by gardaí and found to be in possession of a knife.
He was arrested and detained at a garda station in Monaghan under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The man has since been charged and is expected to appear before Monaghan District Court today.
