A man has been remanded in custody after a firearms incident during the alleged repossession of a house in Co Wicklow yesterday.
Brian McDonagh, 64, of Drummin House, Drummin East in Delgany appeared before Bray District Court charged with two offences.
He was charged with producing a shotgun, contrary to section 11 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act, 1990, during a dispute yesterday afternoon.
Mr McDonagh was also charged with obstructing or interfering with an officer of the court, understood to be a sheriff who was attempting to carry out duties at the property in Delgany.
That charge relates to Section 110 of the Courts and Civil Law Act 2023.
Detective Brian Shiggins of Greystones Garda Station told the court he arrested Mr McDonagh at 3.15pm yesterday.
Mr McDonagh's solicitor, Geoffrey Nwadike told the court his client "disagreed with the charge" over the firearms charge and that his client believed the sheriff was trespassing.
Judge John O’Leary was told bail was not being applied for at this stage and granted a request for legal aid.
The judge remanded Mr McDonagh to appear again before Bray District Court on Monday 3 March.
