A man has been arrested following a standoff with gardaí in Co Wicklow.

The man, aged in his 50s, barricaded himself into a property following the attempted execution of a High Court order.

Gardaí were called to the scene in Delgany and initiated its operational command protocol after a third party attempted to execute the High Court order.

The Armed Support Unit and negotiators from An Garda Síochána's National Negotiators Unit attended the scene and the incident was resolved peacefully around 3pm.

The man is currently detained at a garda station in the east of the country.

He was arrested under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

Two guns were also seized by gardaí during the incident.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
