The mother of a five-year-old boy who died after being struck by a car in Portlaoise over the weekend has thanked people for their love and support.
"Our hearts are shattered but we are overwhelmed by the love and support from all of you," said Irina Novikova in a post on social media.
Aaron Hussain died after he was knocked down by a car at Kilminchy on the outskirts of Portlaoise shortly after 4pm on Saturday.
In the post online, Ms Novikova said it is hard to believe how many lives her son, Aaron, had touched in his "five beautiful years".

She thanked people for their love and support as the family "try to navigate this heartbreaking reality".
