Light aircraft makes emergency landing in Co Louth

A light aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing in Co Louth this afternoon.

The aircraft made the emergency landing in Mansfieldstown, just west of Castlebellingham.

It is understood that four people were on board. However, no serious injuries have been reported.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene this evening.

The Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) has confirmed that it has sent a team of inspectors to the scene.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the AAIU said: "We are aware of this incident and the Air Accident Investigation Unit/AAIU have sent a team of inspectors to the scene. We understand that four people were on board and light injuries were reported.

"As this is an active investigation we won't be able to share more details than this," the spokesperson concluded.
