Two people are being treated at Mayo University Hospital following what appears to be a gas explosion at an Indian restaurant in Castlebar.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the explosion at the Imperial Blue restaurant on Lower Charles Street in Castlebar at around 7.30pm yesterday evening.
Three people, understood to be workers, were in the restaurant at the time.
Two of those employees were taken to hospital with burn injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.
The blast occurred at the rear of the restaurant which is also a popular takeaway and there were no customers in the building at the time.
The roof was damaged by the explosion, but the restaurant itself remained intact and surrounding properties were not affected.
Gardaí have sealed off the area for a technical examination.
