A new online repository showcasing decades of innovative mental health research has been launched by St Patrick's Mental Health Services.
The material brings together over 500 mental health-related items to support and increase the impact of mental health research and to ensure the voices of people who experience mental health difficulties and participate in research are heard.
St Patrick's Mental Health Services Programme Manager Dr Grainne Donohue said that St Patrick's has been at the forefront of advancing mental health research for over 135 years.
Some of the most recent research on the site includes climate change and health, and the role of health professionals, antipsychotic-induced weight gain management, virtual mental health inpatient wards and the impact of Covid-19 on eating disorders.
Medical Director at St Patrick's Professor Paul Fearon said pioneering research in mental health is essential to driving meaningful change in treatment approaches, reducing stigma and ensuring everyone affected by mental health difficulties has the best opportunity to receive the most effective evidence-based care.
The material on SPIRE is from Irish researchers at St Patrick's, Trinity College and others.
