Seven further remanded on conspiracy to import drugs

Seven men charged with conspiring to import drugs into the State following a major garda and customs operation off the mid-west and south coast this month have been further remanded in custody.

All seven face a single charge of conspiring to import drugs with others with a value of more than €13,000 into the State between 11 January and 13 January 2025.

All appeared today at Tralee District Court via video link from Cork prison.

They are 36-year-old Hanz Pangahin, 44-year-old Christopher Ampo, and 28-year-old Feljon Lao, all with addresses in the Philippines. Conor Costello, 30, with an address at Earhart Park, Derry, 45-year-old Miljan Koprivica, with an address in Manchester, 31-year-old Ryan Watson; and 40-year-old Gary Monks with addresses in Glasgow.

Sergeant Chris Manton's application in each case was to remand all seven in continuing custody as directions are not yet available from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Judge David Waters remanded all seven in continuing custody at Cork Prison to appear again via video link at Tralee District Court on 5 February next for instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions on how she wishes to proceed.

He also granted a certificate for a Filipino interpreter for three of the accused at the next court sitting.
