Thousands of people have gathered in Dublin Castle for an early countdown concert.
It is one of many events taking place across the three-day New Year Festival in the capital.
Tourists from across Europe and the US are among the crowds who are enjoying the entertainment which includes jugglers and stilt walkers.
Several acts have been taking to the stage since 4pm, including Dublin singer, Aby Coulibaly, who supported Coldplay earlier this year.
The organisers of the festival, Fáilte Ireland, said it brings a boost to the local economy with a rise in bed occupancy at a quieter time of year for hotels.
Later tonight, Cian Ducrot will be performing to a sold out crowd for the countdown concert.
There is a range of events that are free across three days of celebrations to make it "accessible for all", organisers said.

The three days of the New Year Festival is being organised by Fáilte Ireland in partnership with the Office of Public Works (OPW) and local councils.
Firework displays will light up the skies at Howth and Dún Laoghaire harbours at around 8pm.
According to the latest weather forecast from Met Éireann, it will be mostly cloudy in Dublin tonight with outbreaks of rain.
The rain will then clear southeast later in the night and some clear spells may develop. Moderate to fresh and gusty westerly winds will be strong for time also.
Other events taking place around the country include a Festive Family Féile in Galway which begins at 6pm.
Temperatures countrywide will be between 2C and 5C.
