Pedestrian dies after being struck by car in Co Carlow

A woman in her 70s has died after she was struck by a car in Co Carlow.

The incident occurred on the N80 in Rathcrogue at around 6.30pm.

The woman's body was removed to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was uninjured.

The road has been closed for a technical examination.
