Cocaine with an estimated value of €3 million has been seized by Revenue customs officers at the Port of Cork.

The drugs were discovered in a container of bananas that originated from South America.

The cocaine had an approximate weight of 43kg and was discovered as a result of risk profiling.

The seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs.

In a statement, Revenue said investigations into the discovery are ongoing.
