How it started ...
It was a dramatic time at the count centre in Thurles as there was a potential recount after Sinn Féin's former TD Martin Browne requested one.
Mr Browne conceded shortly after a recheck of his and Independent candidate Séamus Healy's vote bundles and his 6,237 votes were distributed.
The transfer of 359 of those votes resulted in the election of Fine Gael candidate and current Mayor of Clonmel, Michael Murphy.
More than half of Mr Browne's transfers placed Mr Healy ahead of Fianna Fáil's Imelda Goldsboro to take the third and final seat in this constituency.
Mr Healy, a 74-year-old left-leaning independent who focused on housing and access to healthcare services during the campaign, will now return to Dáil Éireann for the third time in his career.
He was previously a TD from 2000 - 2007 and again from 2011 - 2020.
Independent TD Mattie McGrath was the first candidate to be elected after he passed the quota of 10,270 votes.
The voters of Tipperary South will be represented by two Independents and a Fine Gael TD at the 34th Dáil.
