Limerick City: The story of the count

How it started ...

Limerick City has a newly elected first-time TD in Labour's Conor Sheehan.

He was elected on the 15th count beating Elisa O'Donovan of the Social Democrats by 598 votes.

It was a very tight contest to secure that final seat as both were neck and neck for much of the count until Mr Sheehan pulled ahead on count 11 and maintained his lead.

Willie O'Dea of Fianna Fáil, Kieran O'Donnell of Fine Gael and Maurice Quinlivan of Sinn Féin are all outgoing TDs and all have been returned.

The Green Party's Brian Leddin lost his seat and will be replaced by Mr Sheehan.
