A 30-year-old year man charged with the murder of his father in a five-star hotel in Co Laois last week has been further remanded in custody.
Henry McGowan with an address at Clinton Street, Brooklyn, New York, in the US is charged with the murder of John McGowan, which allegedly took place at Ballyfin Demesne, Ballyfin, Co Laois, on 12 November.
This morning's case was conducted by video link from Cloverhill Prison.
Mr McGowan’s solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said that his client was consenting to be remanded in custody for two weeks.
Judge Susan Fay remanded the accused in custody to appear in person before Portlaoise District Court on 2 December.
