Well-known Roscommon barber Paddy Joe Burke is to hang up his scissors after 52 years in business.
The Roscommon GAA fanatic will close his barber shop on Church Street in Roscommon town later today.
Mr Burke opened the barber shop in 1972.
He announced in May that the premises was being put on the market and he would retire when it was sold.
Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, Mr Burke said: "We had the full mixed grill. We had a bit of everything. We had the great days, we had the good days and it was fun. What a wonderful journey."
He said he is closing his shop because he wants to enjoy a "bit of downtime" after working for so many years.

"I have seen people stay on too long", he said and added he "didn't want to wait to be Ireland's oldest barber".
"I want to enjoy doing everything and nothing," Mr Burke said.
"I'm 52 years doing the greatest job in the world, in the greatest city in the world, in the town that I absolutely love. I want to have a bit of down time."

He said Roscommon had enjoyed GAA success during the shop's tenure and "all the cups came to the barber shop".
He said that one of the greatest stories in his 52 years was when [Galway senior footballer] Shane Walsh's father came into the shop and overheard me praising his son and I hadn't a clue who he was.
