A community showcase will take place in Sligo next Friday featuring presentations from groups and organisations who have made meaningful community contributions in the region as the Sligo LEADER Partnership (SLP) celebrates its 30th anniversary.
SLP has 300 people on employment schemes and more than 50 staff in the community across Sligo Town and county.
It was founded in 1994 to support the needs to rural communities and disadvantaged areas of Sligo.
SLP CEO John Feerick said the partnership is about providing necessary supports in communities.
"We will always put the individual needs of our clients first and we aim to enhance the lives of the people of Sligo with all of the programmes that we administer," he said.
Chairperson of SLP Dr Amanda McCloat said one of the unique things about the partnership is how they leverage different programmes as wrap-around supports.
"We have a great team of people who work closely with our communities, and this is something we value very highly," said Dr McCloat.
SLP operates programmers such as LEADER, SICAP, Tús, Next Move, RSS, WorkAbility as well as Day Centres for the Elderly and integration supports.
Some of the community initiatives supported by SLP include playground developments, digital skills for citizens and businesses, charities and community groups, family resource support, recreational activities, first responder groups, Men's Shed groups and childcare services.
Next Friday’s event at the Clayton Hotel in Sligo will also mark 20 years of the impact of the Rural Social Scheme in providing support to farmers and rural dwellers in rural areas.
