In person day-services at the Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) in Co Cavan are resuming on a phased basis after closing their doors earlier this year.
Services were reduced to an outreach-only model in April due to staff shortages.
This meant that its 36 service users who would have attended the day centre in person switched to receiving home visits from staff instead.
The outreach also included day-trips, zoom and phone calls.
Those service users have a range of physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities.
The IWA said that following a successful recruitment drive, a phased reopening of services began this month.
It said "a new team is in place to support members in a safe and person-centred manner in line with IWA's values, policies and procedures".
Ruth Fox, Service Co-ordinator in Cavan, said: "We are just thrilled to have our members back in the centre. It’s so lovely to hear the chatter, laughter, and feel the fun in the air again.
"There is an amazing buzz amongst our members and staff as we celebrate each group’s return. Everyone is so happy to see each other again."
The IWA said there is ongoing collaboration with the HSE on a business case for long-term support requirements and that an outcome on this was "anticipated in the very near future".
