A man has been arrested over an incident of criminal damage at a house in Co Mayo.
The man, aged in his 30s, barricaded himself inside his family home in Ballina town after gardaí responded to the incident shortly after 6pm yesterday.
Gardaí launched its operational command protocol and an on-scene commander was appointed.
Local garda negotiators from the National Negotiators Unit and several other garda units attended the scene.
Gardaí said the incident was resolved "peacefully" just after 11.30pm.
The man was arrested under mental health legislation.
Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
