Vaping products containing suspected illegal cannabinoids have been seized in Co Donegal, following reports that a person had fallen ill.
Gardaí from the Divisional Drugs Unit carried out a number of searches in Bundoran and Donegal town on 22 August and seized 66 vapes and two bottles of oil, which contained THC, HHC and HHCP.
The items have a value of €3,080 and have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact Ballyshannon Garda station on 071 985 8530, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
Last year, the Health Service Executive issued issued a risk communication on the emergence of synthetic cannabinoids in products such as vapes and liquids used in e-cigarettes.
Synthetic cannabinoids can be highly potent which increases the risks for people who use them and the HSE warned that negative and harmful effects from synthetic cannabinoids are more likely compared to natural cannabis.
