Iarnród Éireann has announced a number of changes to its services, including the opening of a new station in Kishoge, Dublin.
It announced a new timetable for some of its lines, as well as additional services.
In relation to the Galway and Waterford rail lines, there will be up to five more weekday services on the Galway route, with a later extra final route added to the Waterford line.
There will be a new service from Dublin Heuston to Galway at 8.30pm, and from Galway to Heuston at 8.50pm.
The current 8.15pm service from Heuston to Carlow is deferred to 8.20pm and extended to Waterford, while the current 9.37pm Carlow to Heuston service will now start in Waterford at 8.20pm.
There will be an additional service from Monasterevin, Kildare at 7.30am on the Portlaoise to Heuston line.
A new service from Wexford to Dublin Connolly station at 9.25pm has also been added.
In a statement, Iarnród Éireann said that there will be more weekend trains on the Cork commuter network.
There will also be an expansion of the Intercity railcar fleet, with an additional 41 carriages being added to existing services, bringing the total number to 275.
Iarnród Éireann said that these changes will be phased in between now and October.
Work on the restoration of the Kishoge Station has been ongoing, and will open on 26 August.
There will also be a move to an hourly Dublin/Belfast service on Mondays to Saturdays.
Iarnród Éireann said that this is to accommodate hourly Dublin/Belfast services. The changes on this service will come into effect later this year.
