Customers using public transport this weekend have been advised to plan ahead and book tickets in advance, as additional bus and rail services are being rolled out to cover a number of large events.

Additional DART services on the southbound line to and from Bray will be running tomorrow to accommodate those traveling to the annual Bray Air Display.

Passengers travelling to and from Bray on the DART are advised to travel early, and allow extra time for their journey.

"As high numbers disembarking trains will result in some delays, it is advised to commence your journey by 11am, as southbound services will be extremely busy," a spokesperson for Iarnród Éireann said.

"If you are not attending the Bray Air Display, and have flexibility in when you travel, please travel away from event times.

"Extra DARTs will operate before and after all the Air Display, and extra staff will be present across the DART network to assist customers and manage capacity.

"Take water, and stay hydrated, and please note alcohol is not permitted on board".

The spokesperson added that bikes will not be permitted on board DART and Commuter services to maximise capacity.

Due to the Fleadh Cheoil na Éireann taking place in Wexford Town this weekend, the line between Wexford and Rosslare will be closed for the duration of the event on Sunday and Monday.

The spokesperson said that a train service will operate between Dublin Connolly and Wexford, but bus transfers will operate between Enniscorthy, Wexford and Rosslare on all regular services.

"A number of additional services will also operate between Connolly and Wexford and Wexford and Arklow in both directions.

"Booking in advance is essential to avoid disappointment as space is limited".

Bus substitution in operation

Customers are also advised that a series of line works will result in closures between Malahide and Drogheda stations from Saturday to Monday.

Due to ongoing Translink works in Northern Ireland, Northern Commuter and Enterprise services will be suspended, with some bus transfer arrangements in place across the weekend.

A bus substitution will operate on two routes covering: Drogheda, Balbriggan, Donabate and Connolly, as well as Skerries, Rush and Lusk, and Connolly.

Customers are advised to check for updates on www.irishrail.ie.

Bus Éireann and Expressway services will operate to a normal Sunday schedule on 4 August and 5 August.

Customers on all rail and bus services are advised to familiarise themselves with bank holiday changes across the network, and to book tickets advance where possible to avoid disappointment.
