The funeral for veteran Irish-American broadcaster Adrian Flannelly will take place in Co Wicklow on Saturday 10 August.

Born in Attymass in Co Mayo in 1942, he moved to New York aged 17 in 1959.

He went on to broadcast to the Irish-American community for 54 years before retiring last year.

The Adrian Flannelly Show became the Irish Radio Network, and reached more than two million listeners as he reconnected Irish emigrants with home.

Mr Flannelly played a key role in Irish community efforts to secure Morrison and Donnelly visas for the undocumented Irish in the late 1980s and early 1990s

He also helped with the development of the Irish Hunger Memorial in Lower Manhattan's Battery Park City.

He received an Irish Presidential Distinguished Service Award in 2021 for his work on behalf of the Irish community in the US.

Mr Flannelly died at North Shore University Hospital in New York on 24 July.

His funeral Mass will take place at 11am on 10 August in St Peter's Church, Bray, Co Wicklow, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr Flannelly is survived by his wife Aine, son Paul and daughters Linda, Eileen and Kathleen.
