A famous hotel in An Clochán Liath, Co Donegal, that dates back to the 1850s has reopened its doors.
Sweeney's Hotel, located on Main Street, is a landmark building in the west of the county.
It was first opened by John D Sweeney, who made his fortune in the United States.
It was derelict for several years, but local builder and developer Pat Boyle, and his Chicago-based businessman cousin Kevin Boyle, embarked on a €2 million refurbishment.
The refurbishment works began in 2020.
In 2022, the works featured on RTÉ’s At Your Service programme with John and Francis Brennan.
Pat Boyle said he was delighted to finally have the job completed in time for the Mary From Dungloe Festival.
In the original section of the hotel, five rooms are named after people associated with the area.
These individuals include Daniel O’Donnell, Margo, Moya Brennan, Packie Bonner and the late Gay Byrne.
The official honours were performed by former MEP and TD, Pat 'The Cope' Gallagher, who is hoping to stand again in the upcoming general election.
Mr O'Donnell was also on hand and spoke eloquently of his fond memories of the hotel
