Medical diagnostics company Beckman Coulter has announced plans to increase its workforce, part of a €10 million upgrade to its facility near Tulla in Co Clare.

The new roles will bring to 640 the number employed at the site by the end of 2027.

The company said it is is actively hiring for 50 open roles and also announced 30 additional jobs arising, to be recruited between 2025 and 2027.

As part of the latest expansion, new automated reagent filling lines will be developed, along with additional infrastructure at the 16,000sqm facility.

The company has 11,000 staff worldwide and set up operations in east Clare in 2005.

An economic impact assessment carried out to coincide with the announcement suggests that the firm’s presence in the region was worth €55m to the local economy last year.

The high-tech facility is situated on a 120-hectare farm, with a wormery waste treatment plant, a dedicated water treatment plant and renewable energy systems all developed to co-exist with the rural environment in recent years.
