Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure of an estimated €977,000 worth of drugs in Dublin.

Gardaí conducted a stop and search of a vehicle in Tallaght on Saturday in which a quantity of cannabis and €800 in cash was discovered.

A man in his late 30s was arrested and was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in the capital.

In follow-up searches of two premises in Tallaght and Lucan, cannabis herb, cannabis resin and cannabis plants with an estimated value of over €900,000 was seized.

Drug paraphernalia was also discovered by gardaí.

A man, aged in his late 40s, was arrested.

He is detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a garda station in Dublin.

Both men appeared appeared before Tallaght District Court this morning.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
