Thirteen young people have been helped off a mountain in Co Down.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said officers had been tasked to Pigeon Rock Mountain near Hilltown just before 5pm.

They worked alongside colleagues from the ambulance service and the PSNI to find the group after a report that they had become stranded.

All were accounted for and taken safely off the mountain.

It is believed the walkers were teenagers from two different schools and had become disorientated in poor weather.

None required medical treatment.
