Yellow thunderstorm warning issued for five counties

A Status Yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for five counties.

The warning for Carlow, Cork, Kilkenny, Tipperary and Waterford will be in place from 2pm until 8pm tomorrow.

However, the forecaster said many areas will be dry tomorrow with sunny spells.

It said it will be cloudier for a time across the northwest with good spells of sunshine continuing elsewhere.

Met Éireann said that some torrential downpours will develop in parts later during the afternoon and evening with spot flooding, lightning and hail, especially across the south midlands and southeast.

The highest temperatures will reach 18C to 23C and be warmest away from Ulster.
