Temporary repair works carried out on south Dublin sinkhole

Dublin City Council has said it has carried out temporary repair works on a sinkhole that appeared in the middle of Sandymount village this afternoon.

They say further investigations to determine what caused the sinkhole will be carried out.

The hole appeared on part of the road, adjacent to a kerb on Sandymount Green at around 4:30pm this afternoon.

The area, which is outside a shop, was cordoned off by gardaí and an inspection was carried out by Dublin City Councils roads maintenance services division.

The Council said a permanent repair of the roadway will be arranged in due course.
