Pedestrian dies after being struck by car in Cork

A man in his 40s has died after a collision on the N25 in Co Cork in the early hours of this morning.

The incident, which involved a car and a pedestrian, happened around 1.30am this morning on the N25 eastbound at Water-Rock in Midleton.

Gardaí said the man, who was a pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other serious injuries were reported.

Gardaí are at the scene and a forensic examination is due to take place later today.

The road is currently closed, and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are also appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Anyone with camera footage travelling in the area of the N25 eastbound between 1.15am and 1.30am today are asked to share it with gardaí.
