Man, 20s, dies after two-car crash in Co Louth

A man in his 20s has died following a two-car crash in Co Louth this afternoon.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the crash on the R169 in Collon shortly after midday.

The man was the sole occupant of one of the cars and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The local coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination is due to be arranged.

The road is currently closed as an examination is carried out by forensic investigators.

Diversions are currently in place.

A man, in his 60s, and a woman, in her 70s, were occupants of the other car.

They were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for assessment.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and are also requesting those with camera footage, including dashcam, from the area at the time to make it available to them.
