Authorities have closed down an illegal "cigarette factory" in Dublin.

Over 1.4 tonnes of raw tobacco, precursor components for the manufacture of cigarettes and around 758,000 cigarettes branded 'Marlboro' were discovered in Dublin 11 during a joint search operation by Revenue and gardaí yesterday.

Detector dog Milo was part of the operation

Officers were also assisted by detector dog Milo.

Revenue said the retail value of the cigarettes is over €630,000 with a potential loss of almost €500,000 to the Exchequer.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing.
