A man accused of 125 sexual crimes against four alleged victims has been sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court.

The man, who cannot be named, was served with a book of evidence at Bantry District Court this week.

He faces 125 charges of attempted sexual assault, sexual assault, attempted rape and rape.

Some of the charges date back more than a decade and that they were allegedly perpetrated against four different females.

At an earlier court sitting evidence had been given that the man had been arrested by appointment and charged, with the Director of Public Prosecutions recommending prosecution on indictment to the Central Criminal Court.

Garda Evelyn Brosnan gave evidence to Judge James McNulty of having served the book of evidence on the man.

The court heard the man had already surrendered his passport and was to adhere to other conditions of his release on bail ahead of the trial, including that there be no contact with the alleged injured parties.

The man was sent forward for trial at the next sittings of the Central Criminal Court on his own bond of €10,000.
