A man in his 30s is due in Cahirciveen District Court tomorrow morning in connection with a fatal house fire in Co Kerry in May 2012.
The man was arrested by police in the UK as part of the investigation into the fire 12 years ago, which claimed the lives of a man and his daughter.
Thirty-year-old Anthony O'Brien and his five-year old daughter Nadine died in the blaze which broke out at their home at Killeen Heights in Tralee in May 2012.
Mr O'Brien's wife and Nadine's mother, Kelly, escaped the blaze, which started at around 2am as the family were asleep.
Gardaí have been conducting a criminal investigation into the fire since then and, in 2022, they arrested three men for questioning as part of their investigation.
All three were subsequently released without charge, but the investigation has continued.
The Garda Press Office has confirmed that the arrest in the UK occurred after detectives secured a warrant under the Trade and Co-operation Agreement between the EU and UK and sent it to police in Britain to be executed.
The agreement allows for streamlined extradition arrangements between EU member states and the UK.
In a statement, the Garda Press Office said: "An Garda Síochána is aware a male was recently arrested in the United Kingdom on foot of a Trade and Cooperation Agreement Warrant (TCA)."
