Demonstrators have gathered outside Leinster House this evening, calling on the Irish Government to join South Africa's genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Earlier today the Dáil debated a motion from the Social Democrats party, which urged the Government to support the case.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said that while the Government believes that the case at the ICJ is valid, it will wait for South Africa to make its memorial, or main case, before it decides whether to formally join the proceedings against Israel.

The Government has also made clear that it will support preliminary measures from the ICJ.
However, opposition parties have criticised the Government's position.
Earlier today Social Democrats leader Holly Cairns argued that Ireland could signal its intent to support South Africa now, adding that "Germany has signalled its intent to support Israel, never has it been more important for countries to get behind South Africa with regard to this because that puts weight behind their case".
