Man in court charged in connection with Limerick shooting incident

A 44-year-old man has appeared before Limerick District Court as part of an investigation into a shooting incident in the Ballinacurra Weston area of the city last Saturday.

Jason Higgins of Crecora Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston, Limerick is charged with one count of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

The court heard he is the owner of four licenced firearms kept at his home.

A man was injured in the incident and is being treated at University Hospital Limerick.

The court heard that members of the accused man's family including his elderly mother, daughter and grand daughter were in the house last Saturday afternoon when the incident occurred.

Mr Higgins was granted bail by Judge Patricia Harney on his own bond of €100, to appear before Limerick District Court on 8 April for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
