Gardaí are investigating a fire at a property in Sandyford in Dublin on Sunday evening.

Last week videos circulated on social media claiming that international protection applicants were to be housed in the building.

A spokesperson for the Department of Integration has said it is investigating if this is the case.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said that gardaí from Stepaside station are investigating fire damage to the property off the Sandyford Road.

"The alarm was raised shortly after 11:30pm on Sunday, 7 January and the fire was quickly brought under control by fire services, preventing any substantial or structural damage occurring," the spokesperson said.

They said the property was vacant at the time and was undergoing renovation, and that the alarm had been raised by security personnel.

"No one was injured," they said.

Three fire engines from Rathfarnham and Donnybrook fire stations attended the scene.

A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade said: "Breathing apparatus teams located the fire and were able to prevent any further fire spread. The fire was brought under control by 00:25 hours... and the incident concluded at 01:00 hours and the scene was handed over to to An Garda Síochána."

The scene was examined by local garda crime scene investigators and enquiries are ongoing.
