The body of a man has been discovered at a home in Co Kerry.
The man, aged in his 60s, was found at the property in Duagh, Listowel, at around 3pm yesterday.
He was pronounced dead at the scene before being removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Kerry.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Tuesday.
It is understood that the man may have died some time ago and that his body may have lain undiscovered at his home since then.
He had not been seen in public for several months prior to the discovery of his body.
The scene has been preserved for a technical and forensic examination.
The office of the State Pathologist and local Coroner have been notified.
Gardaí said they are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery and that the outcome of the post-mortem will determine the course of the investigation.
