A search is continuing for a missing fisherman off the Co Louth coast.

One fisherman was rescued from the sea yesterday morning after a small fishing vessel was reported to be sinking.

The coast guard said that a mayday call was received at 8.45am yesterday from a vessel in difficulty, which had two people on board.

The search resumed at first light today for the second fisherman who has yet to be located.

A spokesperson for the Irish Coast Guard said its Marine Rescue Coordination Centre in Dublin is continuing to coordinate the search for the missing man.

"The Dublin based Coast Guard helicopter R116, Clogherhead, Greenore and Drogheda Coast Guard Units, Clogherhead RNLI Lifeboat, divers from An Garda Síochána, Irish Lights vessel Granuaile and a number of local vessels are assisting in the search," the spokesperson added.
